Tell us why you do what you do in 1 sentence.
After 25+ years as an entrepreneur I have learned that managing my mood and loving myself are the keys to unlocking my full potential as a human being, and my desire to offer a product that can be the anchor to other people’s personal transformation and discovery is my calling and my purpose.
What 3 valuable lessons about business would you hope to pass onto young women considering becoming an entrepreneur?
- Entrepreneurship is a journey of self discovery, not for the faint of heart.
- You will become richer then you ever thought in experience, wisdom and courage but not always monetarily
- You will need to choose your loved ones, family and friends wisely as this journey brings along everyone and not everyone will want to come along
Those who are considering outside investment, what from your experience was a shock to learn?
Raising capital as a women entrepreneur is not a sure thing, more then likely you will not succeed. If you do raise capital, the entire process is designed to elevate your game and provide you with fuel for your vision but it also comes with the need to serve those who invested. Investors are partners with benefits, figure out what those benefits are and choose wisely. Not all frogs are princes.
What are the hardest sacrifices that you make on behalf of your business?
I prefer asking what are the hardest choices you make. You can let your business take over your entire being. If you think you can’t put your phone down, try putting your business down. So the choice is to consume versus being consumed. It all comes down to discipline, boundaries and vision.
What are you most hopeful about with your company?
As the mechanics of the business become more and more clear and sustainable layering on innovation is the next frontier. With profitability and processes in place we can start to build a dream team on a healthy foundation and spend more time focusing on building new products and driving demand.
